On bigger works I make a companion illustrated storyboard. This is the space I take notes, write down my thoughts about the drawing and it's meaning, and just let me mind stay in the creative mode. These are deeply personal but I am sure you will find them relatable and moving. I love these gems that come from my studio. It is my way of making art, while making art, while making art.

Compainion Drawing:
I think this is the fastest I’ve ever drawn for a drawing this size. There were challenges and awesome lessons and a really beautiful story that came out of it. I also made it while moving studios and I feel so accomplished that I didn’t screw up on the execution of the idea. Wellll done, Raven.

This work represents the capacity my heart has for love. Ever flowing, in abundance. The octopus has 3 hearts, room for many. I find that loving many also means I experience missing often. And sometimes that missing takes control of your heart and sweeps you away. However, in the midst of missing, I get the chance to appreciate the privilege it is to love and be loved.
