Intrinsic Illustrations

When I was a kid, I would play a game I called "Scribble." To play, you literally scribble on a piece of paper and then look for forms; like looking at the clouds on a lazy day. As your mind starts taking in the random lines and turning them into forms take your pen and complete the lines by drawing in what your mind finds.

Fast forward to 2020 I decided it was time to use this technique to teach myself to draw. (Take a look in my Portfolio and you will see my first drawings.) Throughout my life, as I dreamed of being an artist, I wanted to be a drawer. I did not have the skills and struggled HARD with how to bring what was in my mind to my paper. After five years of hard work, I am fuckin' stoked with my progress and the work I produce. It is what my little Raven heart always wanted to make.

These drawings are not preconceived ideas. However, I have an overarching theme I bring to each work: love and intimacy. Spending my time focusing on the power of connection between lovers has been an enriching experience. An artist never knows when an idea has been exhausted, but I know for now I am not even close to telling all the stories I have tucked away.

Lastly, I'd like to encourage you all to grab a pen and paper and play the Scribble Game. Whether you think you can draw or not, it is a powerful way to unlock your very real and human creative mind.
